Liquor licenses are a hot commodity in many communities. The City of Sturgeon Bay will be looking to establish criteria for releasing existing Class B Combination beer/liquor licenses and possible waiting lists. Council Member Kelly Catarozoli, who serves on the Community Protection and Services Committee, says a point system is the fairest way to award a license.
Catarozoli says a waiting list could be used as a tie-breaker. She believes awarding a liquor license based on a waiting list does not mean it will go to the establishment that will best utilize it. Recipients of the license must make liquor sales 180 days out of the year while making an annual renewal. The Community Protection Services Committee will be meeting next Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall in the Council Chambers.
