The Southern Door Eagles will have all they can handle when they travel to take on the Kewaunee Storm in their Packerland Conference dual finale Friday night on 104.1 WRLU.
The Eagles are coming off an odd week when they had a match happen but not happen at the same time with Oconto bringing only one wrestler in what will go down as a win for Southern Door. Friday’s match was delayed a day due to weather cancellations forcing Kewaunee to host a boys’ basketball game on Thursday. In between the Eagles had a great showing at their last tournament on Saturday, finishing third as a team.Top finishers were Kyle Conard 106, Griffin Slezewski 113, Ben Kielar 120, and Drew Price 132 who all finished first. Grant Englebert was second at 138 and Jared Conard fifth at 145. Austin Falish also finished third at 106 as a non scorer.
Winning tournaments has been a weekly tradition for the Storm including last weekend in Deerfield. Every weight class except 285 had someone making the medal stand, with Jesse Steinhorst (145) leading the way with a first-place finish. That made it five straight team titles this season for the Storm. The Storm is ranked 3rd in the state in Division 3 and in the driver’s seat to be named Packerland Conference Champions.
Tim Kowols and Greg Letter will broadcast the match on 104.1 WRLU beginning at a special time of 6:30 p.m. with the first whistle at 7 p.m.
