In a game that lived up to the title “War on the Shore”, Kewaunee was able to outlast Algoma, with the Storm winning 57-55. In a see-saw battle, when it seemed the Storm were on pace to seal the victory, Algoma would quietly battle back, even taking the lead in some big moments late in the game. However, Kewaunee would take a 4 point lead with 28 seconds left and not look back. Kewaunee was led by senior Cody Bultman, who came in averaging just under 4 points per contest went off for a team-high 21 points. Both before and after the game, Coach Luke Neitzel praised the senior for his efforts on both ends, mentioning it’s his defense and hustle Bultman is usually known for and scoring is just a bonus. Fellow senior Sam LeCaptain also chipped in 13 points for the Storm. In the losing effort, Algoma senior Aidan Wallace led all scorers with 24 points, splitting his scoring evenly, with 12 in each half. Zach Schmidt would also add 12 for the Wolves.
Even with both teams battling on the floor, the two communities would join together for the annual Mitten Toss game, benefitting Warm Hands, Warm Hearts. 505 items were collected for kids in need of winter clothing.
