The rivalry aptly named the “war on the shore,” the fanbases of the Kewaunee and Algoma boy’s basketball teams will also battle against the cold in Tuesday’s Mitten Toss game on 104.1 WRLU.
The Storm (5-10, 4-5) and the Wolves (3-11, 3-6) enter the matchup with very similar records and struggles to get the offense going in the first half. Kewaunee’s Ryan Carmichael and Alex Hewett lead the way offensively with both players averaging just above 10 points a contest, but Algoma’s Aidan Wallace outpaces both with an average of 15 points a game, good for sixth place in the Packerland Conference. The Storm has been particularly pesky on defense with 5 different players in the top 12 for steals.
Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves to throw out onto the court during halftime to benefit Warm Hands, Warm Hearts, an organization created by Kewaunee alumna Paige Kassner.
Eric Fischer and Tim Kowols will have the call on 104.1 WRLU beginning at 7:00 p.m. with the pre-game show and opening tip at 7:30 p.m. You can also catch the action streaming on DoorCountyDailyNews.com and Facebook Live.
