Eric Frank, a Sturgeon Bay High School senior, wins two awards for the nationally recognized 2018 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.
Frank earned a Silver Key (second place) for a comic illustrative piece winning him a $1,000 scholarship. His second award was Honorable Mention (third place) for his art portfolio. The portfolio was an eight piece focus on conceptual fashion design – Frank’s overall artistic concentration is to create imaginative character concepts in a unique way.
Since the Scholastic Art and Writing competition is so difficult to win, art colleges heavily weigh the recognition. Moreover, this is the highest – and most – any Sturgeon Bay high school student has achieved from the national competition. This success serves as inspiration to his peers and raises awareness to Sturgeon Bay High School on a national level.
This is what Eric Frank had to say regarding his awards.
Frank was invited on special invitation to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Wisconsin Ceremony held in the Milwaukee Art Museum February 10th. Here, one of his illustrations may be exhibited from February 3rd until March 18th.
Eric Frank plans to attend an art college after graduating this year. He currently has two scholarship offers from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) and Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI).
