Luxemburg-Casco Spartan boys’ basketball battled but eventually fell to the Freedom Irish 47-40 Thursday night in North Eastern Conference game at Luxemburg. The Spartans trailed 17-10 in the first half before going on a 9-0 run to take a 19-17 lead. Freedom had a put-back basket at the buzzer to tie the game 21-21 at halftime. The Spartans kept the game close until the final minutes when turnovers and missed scoring opportunities ended any chances for a victory.
The Spartans were led by Nathan Coisman with 15 points, while Josh Zeitler finished with eight points each.
Luxemburg-Casco (2-9, 2-13 overall) will now look to bounce back next week when they start a three-game road trip with Wrightstown Monday in a Northeastern Conference game. The next L-C boys game broadcast on the radio will be February 9 against Clintonville in Luxemburg.
The Spartan girls will host Little Chute tonight in a game broadcast on 96.7FM WBDK with Matt Piesler and Paul Schmitt on the call starting at 7 p.m. with the pregame and tip off at 7:15 p.m. The game audio can also be streamed on DoorCountyDailyNews.com with video on facebook book live.
