The Southern Door Eagles took their fair share of forfeits, but could only muster one contested win in a 40-30 loss to the host Peshtigo Bulldogs in a match heard on 104.1 WRLU Thursday night. With wrestling starting at 160 pounds, the Bulldogs collected three pins to answer a pair of forfeits for the Eagles as action flipped to the lighter weights. Freshman Griffin Slezewski took state ranked Zach Wauters the distance but fell in a close regular decision in one of the best matches of the evening. Southern Door ended their evening with Grant Englebert wrestling up two weight classes to get a pin over Devyn Wauters in 3:47.
The Eagles will head to Sheboygan North Saturday for multi-team tournament. The next Eagles Wrestling broadcast will be next Thursday when Oconto visits Brussels on “Old School Night” with action taking place in the old high school gym.
Another score we have available is Luxemburg-Casco shutting out Waupaca 83-0 with state champion Bryce Bosman’s 16-0 technical fall the only match to not end in six points for the Spartans.
