The Southern Door Athletic Booster Club is proud to announce its Hall of Fame induction class for 2018. This year’s inductees include Brian Flanigan class of 1993, and Adam Cochart class of 2002. The induction ceremony will take place on Friday, February 16, 2018 at half-time of the Eagles boys’ basketball game vs Sturgeon Bay, in the Eagle gym. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Flanigan, a multi-sport, 11 varsity letter winner for the Eagles, competing in football, basketball, and track & field. Brian excelled in football, and track receiving multiple 1st Team all-conference awards, as well as, being a member of the 1989 WIAA State Football Championship Team, and, a member of the 3, Packerland Conference Co-Championship Football Teams in 1990, 1991, & 1992. In track he had all-conference discus honors, and qualified for the WIAA State Track & Field meet 3 times throwing the discus and shot put, as well as, a member of the WIAA State Track & Field Championship Team that set a state record for total team points scored at the state meet. His excellence in football gave him the opportunity to play football at the University of Wisconsin under Coach Barry Alvarez where he played linebacker in 4 Bowl games, including the UW Badger winning Rose Bowl game. Upon graduating UW-Madison with a business degree he returned to the Southern Door area, and entered his family’s beverage distribution business, “Flanigan Distributing”. Currently, he is part owner and Principal of the business. With Cherie Chaudoir, Brian, has two children, Brie (8) and Evin (4).
Cochart, participated in football, wrestling, and track & field at Southern Door High School, earning 11 varsity letters. As an Eagle, Adam was a football stand-out receiving both offense and defense lineman all-conference awards, and a member of the 2 Packerland Conference Championship Football Teams in 1998 & 2000. As a heavyweight wrestler, Adam, was also an all-conference award winner and qualified for WIAA State Wrestling meet in 2002. In track & field, Adam earned all-conference honors and qualified for the WIAA State Track & Field meets in 2000, 2001, and 2002 throwing the shot put and discus. After graduating from SD, Adam attended UW-Stout earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology Education, a Masters of Science in Educational Technology from Marian University, and a Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from UW-Oshkosh. He is presently an Engineering and Technology teacher at Bay Port High School in Green Bay. Adam and his wife Rachel live in New Franken with their one- year old daughter Quinn and expecting their second child in February.
The Hall of Fame was established by the Southern Door Athletic Booster Club, to establish pride, preserve tradition, and honor former athletes and coaches who have distinguished themselves in the field of athletics through their performance and representation of Southern Door High School. Plaques honoring all inductees will be on display in lobby outside the Eagle Gym.
