The Door County Community Foundation hit major milestones in 2017, including surpassing $20 million in total assets. The organization distributed over $1.5 million to local groups over the last year while collecting $22 million over the last five years. Door County Community Foundation President and CEO Bret Bicoy says the numbers show not just the generosity of a single donor, but the entire area.
The tax reform measures signed by President Donald Trump last week could be good news for the Door County Community Foundation as donor-advised funds become more advantageous for those who want to donate money and get a tax deduction in the same year, but have the money distributed over time. Bicoy says he is excited to help announce the future plans of the Women’s Fund of Door County, the Crime Prevention Fund, and the newly created Ellie Helm Foundation over the next several weeks.
