With AAA projecting a record 97.4 million Americans traveling by automobile during the upcoming holiday week, local law enforcement is advising travelers to take extra precaution when driving on the busy area highways. The forecast travel is based from Saturday through New Year’s Day and Door County Sheriff Steve Delarwelle shares some tips for safer driving.
Sheriff Delarwelle says road conditions can change rapidly this time of year and drivers should allow for more travel time to get to their destinations. He says if you plan on doing any drinking of alcohol, you should make sure to have a designated driver. Nationally, the heaviest congestion of traffic is expected today as commuters leave work early and mix with holiday travelers, according to historical trends cited by AAA.
