Janet M. Maclean, 81, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away early Friday morning, December 15, 2017 at her home with her loving family at her side.
She was born August 3, 1936 in Washburn, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Carl and Mildred (Mattesen) Anderson. On January 10, 1953, Janet married Ronald F. Maclean. Together they owned and operated The Maclean Company where they developed highly specialized software used in the loading and unloading of Great Lakes bulk carrier ships. Earlier in her life, Janet worked for Bohn Pharmacy and the Bank of Sturgeon Bay. She took great pride as a homemaker and in the raising of her three boys.
Janet was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Sturgeon Bay. She enjoyed sailing with her husband and family. Her greatest joy was her family and home, being a wife, mother, grandmother who enjoyed gardening in the summer, knitting during the long winter months and in hugs all year long. She enjoyed cooking and made the best pie crusts in our world.
Janet will be missed by her husband, Ronald of Sturgeon Bay; three sons, Gerald (Joan Smith-Maclean MD) of Davis, CA, John (Kristine Wagner-Maclean) of Sturgeon Bay, and Robert (Sandra) Maclean of Wayzata, MN; three grandchildren, Hayley (Drew) Coker MD, Michaela Maclean, and Andrew Maclean; two great-grandsons, Roy and Sam Coker; and sister-in-law, Mary Anderson of Murrieta, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mildred Anderson; two brothers, Carl James Anderson and Robert Anderson; and sister, Marilyn Heidt.
A celebration of her life will be held in spring of 2018.
Memorials may be made in Janet’s memory to Unity Hospice, Hope Church benevolent fund, or the American Cancer Society.
“We would like to especially thank all of our friends and church family for the support shown to us during this journey. To the excellent staff of Unity Hospice, thank you, for the care, compassion, and education provided to us as we prepared to say goodbye to our wife, Mom, and Gammie.”
