Door County’s varsity boys swim team consisting of Southern Door, Sturgeon Bay and Sevastopol started off their regular season with a fourth place finish at the Plymouth Invitational this weekend. Competing against eight other schools, the co-op took first in six events. Numbers for this years team are very low. The squad features incredible quality but lacks quantity.
The meet was highlighted by Sevastopol senior Max McHugh. He set new pool records in the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke.He also swam on the first place 200 Medley Relay consisting of DJ Reichel, McHugh, Brock Aune, and Luke Bousley. Max McHugh also anchored teh first place finishing 200 Free Relay consisting also of Bousley, Evan Smith and Brock Aune.
Other top finishers included:
Evan Smith first place in 200 Free.
Luke Bousley second place in 200 IM.
In the 50 Free, DJ Reichel was 5th, Will Albertson was 19th and Ian Bartz was 30th.
Brock Aune finished first in the 100 Fly.
In the 100 Free, Luke Bousley took 2nd, Kekoa Bicoy took 26th and Ian Bartz was 31st.
In the 500 Free Evan Smith finished 6th.
In the 100 Back DJ Reichel took 3rd, and Kekoa Bicoy took 18th.
The 100 Breaststroke saw Brock Aune finish 2nd and Will Albertson 7th behind McHugh.
In the 400 Free Relay DJ Reichel, Evan Smith, Will Albertson, and Kekoa Bicoy finished 10th.
