Lawrence W, Murray, 83, peacefully went to meet his Lord, November 4, 2017. He was born July 26, 1934 in Waukesha, WI to Harold and Pearl (Lawrence) Murray. Larry served his community, country, and church. He was a retired Captain of the Milwaukee Police Department of 33 years; a retired Command Sergeant Major of the 32nd Infantry Brigade of the Wisconsin Army National Guard for 30 years, where he was inducted into the Hall of Honor in the State Capital; a former two-term President of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Algoma. After retirement Larry moved to his lake house on Kangaroo Lake in Bailey’s Harbor. He later took a second career as a dairy farmer and grandfather in Forestville. He was a Golden Gloves boxer and played numerous sports. He loved to coach his kids and grandchildren in numerous events. He was very active and always had to get outside and get things done. He was a known leader among his peers.He will be missed dearly by his wife of 61 years, Rose; his son Daniel (Donna), and children Courtney and Chelsea (Jake) Smith; daughter, Lorianne (Ray) Shanle and children Raymond, Natasha, Tyler (Laura), Caleb, and Antonia; and great-granddaughter, Chloe Shanle, brother, Gerald (Dee Lila) Murray, sisters-in-law Audrey Murray, Linda Hanin, Anna Jakubovich,and Maribel Murray; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Pearl, his brother Tom, and his daughter Suzanne.
Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 from 9 until the time of services at 11:00 am ,at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Algoma with Rev. Joel McKenney officiating. Burial in the church cemetery with full military rites.
