The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans volleyball will go for their state championship in program history when they meet Merrill in the Division 2 semi-finals Friday afternoon at the Resch Center in Green Bay. The Spartans are led by all-conference first team performers junior outside hitter Cassie Schlitz, senior middle blocker Alexis Dorner, senior setter Megan Cannon, and libero Molly Wotruba. Megan Thayse and Peyton Vandenbush also garnered all conference honors for the second team. The Spartans lead the state with 40 victories on the season, including sectional wins against Green Bay Notre Dame and Little Chute to secure the state berth. Merrill counters with senior outside hitter Morgan Wardall, who registered 375 kills on their way to a Wisconsin Valley Conference championship.
Baxter Colburn and Ben Wolf will have the call from the Resch Center beginning at 3:30 p.m. and first serve at 4 p.m. If the Spartans advance, they would play the winner of the Lakeside Lutheran and Catholic Memorial match at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Resch Center and on 96.7 WBDK.
