Luxemburg-Casco showed courage and prevailed over Little Chute in the playoff match on Saturday, three games to one (12-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-13). Megan Cannon had an incredible 43 assists and 10 digs. Alexis Dorner added 17 kills and Megan Thayse had 13 kills. Molly Wotruba led the back row with 24 digs.
Spartans Coach Jeff Frey said, “We came out flat and nervous in game one and got rolled 25-12. When I looked into their eyes after game one, I knew we were going to be fine and we came out clicking on all cylinders in the last three games. I am so proud and happy for these girls. They have battled and worked so hard for this and have truly earned this. I am also happy for all the former players and coaches who have worked so hard and dedicated so much to build this program to this level. We truly are a family!!”
The Spartans will now face Merrill in a state semi-final Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Resch Center in Green Bay. It is the first Luxemburg-Casco state volleyball appearance ever.
