After going nearly their entire program’s history without a postseason victory, the Sevastopol Pioneers look to make it two in a row at the WIAA 8-man Football Jamboree this afternoon when they battle the Wausaukee Rangers.
Winners of their last six games, the Pioneers look to see how to break through the Rangers defense, which was one of only two teams to hold Sevastopol to under 50 points. It was running back Ethan Kroll who stole the show, gaining 256 yards on just 14 rushes en route to a three touchdown day and a 28-6 victory. The Pioneers last played October 13, a 62-26 rout of their cross-county rival Gibraltar.
The Rangers started a five game winning streaking after falling to 0-2 following the loss to the Pioneers before a loss to Gibraltar and a win in the season finale against Bowler/Gresham to crack the final Jamboree slate. Matthew Delfosse is a jack of all trades for the Rangers, scoring 28 total touchdowns on the ground and through the air.
Tim Kowols and Sevastopol youth football coach Rob Rankin will have the call on 104.1 WRLU with the pre-game show beginning at 12:30 p.m. and kick off at
