Daniel Arthur Frater, 62, Algoma was called home to heaven on Saturday, October 21, 2017. He was born May 12, 1955 in Berlin, WI to Edgar and Ethel (Wegner) Frater. He was received into the kingdom of heaven through Holy Baptism on June 12, 1955 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris, WI. On August 25, 1968 he confirmed his faith in the Lord also at Immanuel.
Dan grew up in central Wisconsin on the family farm near Wild Rose. He graduated from the Wild Rose High School in 1973 and attended UW-Stevens Point, graduating in 1977 with a degree in psychology. Dan received a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from UW-Stout in 1977. As a middle school guidance counselor at Southern Door, he touched the lives of many students in the course of his 30 year career. He retired in 2011.
Dan loved watching the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. He also enjoyed gardening, bicycling, traveling, and making pizza from scratch for his family. He especially loved hunting and fishing with his five sons and spending time with his dogs, Above all he loved his Lord.
On December 16, 1978 Dan married Martha Sattler at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris.
He is survived by his wife, Martha of 38 years, sons Philip (Kelli Mattrisch), Paul (Haley), Isaiah (Lori Hoffman), Ezra (Jenny), and Silas (Samantha), grandsons Drew and Grant Mattrisch, Theodore, Ellis, Jackson and Dylan Frater, and parents-in-law Eugene and Doris Sattler. He is further survived by two brothers David (Judy) and Dean (Barb), one sister Deborah (Paul) Sattler, in-laws Karl (Carol) Sattler, Gretchen (Kevin) Greatens, Philip (Bea) Sattler, Kristin (Michael) Henke, and David (Michele) Sattler, many nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents.
Daniel has been a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Algoma, for 28 years and enjoyed singing with the adult choir for the last six. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Family and friends may call at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Algoma, from 4 – 8 PM, Thursday, October 26, 2017 and then again from 9 AM Friday, until the time of services at 11 AM with Rev. John Moll officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
