The #6 seeded Luxemburg-Casco Spartans fell to #3 Notre Dame 33-13 Friday night in a W.I.A.A. Division 3 Level 1 playoff game on 96.7FM WBDK. The Spartans dominated the time of possession in the first half with over 17 minutes compared to Notre Dame’s six minutes but could only muster 7 points after missing on two scoring opportunities in the Triton red zone. Nathan Coisman’s opened the scoring on with a 21-yard run late in the first quarter. The Tritons then scored 17 straight points to take a 17-7 lead.
The Spartans came back to close within four points on a 60-yard electrifying touchdown pass from Garrett Aissen to Anthony Otradovec with 5:13 left in the third quarter. The Tritons responded by outscoring L-C 16-0 in the final 17 minutes to secure the win.
Coisman finished with 78 yards in rushing on 15 carries and one touchdown to lead the Spartans rushing attack. Aissen completed 14 passes on 28 attempts for 179 yards and one touchdown.
This is the second year in a row that Notre Dame ended the Spartans season as the Tritons won the Level 3 playoff last year 21-10. Luxemburg-Casco ends the season 6-4 with 17 seniors on the team that have the distinction of qualifying all four years for the playoffs during their high school career.
#3 Notre Dame will now travel to face #2 Kewaukum next Friday in a Level 2 playoff game.
