Corrine Carol Stiehl, 83, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Monday morning, October 9, 2017 at Sturgeon Bay Health Services (formerly Golden Living Center-Dorchester).
She was born December 31, 1933 in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Viola (Pivonka) Londo. Corrine graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1951 before attending Carrol College and Lake Forest College. She was employed as a stewardess for major airlines before accepting a position at the Milwaukee Journal promotional department. In 1960, she married Dr. Stiehl in Algoma. They divorced some years later. Corrine then moved back to Milwaukee and worked for a brokerage firm, the Pfister Hotel, Man Power, and Dunn Hill-a job placement company.
She moved home to take care of her mother, a selfless task that lasted 15 years until Viola’s passing on March 26, 1994. Corrine’s father, Lloyd, passed away May 1, 1973.
She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. Corrine loved knitting and working in her gardens around her Sturgeon Bay home. She had an interest in family genealogy and community history. Corrine enjoyed going to the Door County Senior Resource Center and spending time with her friends, there.
Graveside committal services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Bayside Cemetery with Pastor Carl Schroeder, of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow.
