The final game of the Gibraltar Vikings football season finished in defeat as cross-county rival Sevastopol emerged with a 64-26 victory Friday night.
Sevastopol struck first on their second drive of the game with a touchdown by running back Ethan Kroll. Once Kroll found the end zone for the first time, there was no turning him back the rest of the evening. Kroll would finish the game with five total touchdowns and over 150 yards rushing.
Quarterback Trevor Reinhardt tossed three touchdowns, finishing his season off with a total of 27. Adam Reinhardt hauled in two of the three touchdowns to finish the season with 12 receiving scores. Alex Laughlin caught the final of the three passes for his eighth receiving score of the season.
Senior Nate Ewaskowitz electrified the Vikings right before halftime with an interception taken back for a touchdown. Gibraltar would trail 34-26 at Halftime but just not have enough left in the tank in the second half to put away the Pioneers.
Gibraltar finishes the season 5-3 in MONLPC-8-Man Conference action and 5-4 overall. With last nights loss and wins from other conference opponents, the Vikings will finish off their 2017 in fifth place.
