Luxemburg-Casco jumped out to a 5-0 lead against Little Chute Thursday and never looked back. The Spartans cruised to an 11-1 victory over the Mustangs in a Northeastern Conference game. Denny Christoff scored the game’s first goal and finished with a hat trick (three goals) to lead L-C. Griffin Geib, Adam Arendt and Reece Glish each scored two goals. Carter Sewell netted one goal and added two assists. Nathan Johnson scored his first varsity goal for a little extra icing on the cake. Luxemburg-Casco keeper Garrett Zuleger made seven saves in the victory.
The Gibraltar/Sevastopol co-op lost at Peshtigo 3-1 Thursday. The game was delayed 45 minutes due to severe thunderstorms, which produced a very wet field. The only goal for the “Vikineers” lone goal was scored by Jose Tlatempa.
Sturgeon Bay won a hard fought game against Algoma 2-0 Thursday. Eli Dietzel and CJ Fairchild scored the lone goals of the game. Clippers Coach Todd Maas said, “Our boys faced Algoma tonight at their place on their new home field. It’s a major step up from the old field. Algoma played a tough match. Always making sure they had guys behind the ball. We struggled to find quality on the final shot, they put a lot of guys in the box, which made it difficult. We had plenty of opportunities to get numbers on the board, but their GK had a great game!!! Not sure how many big time saves he had, but it was enough. Our guys still need to play cleaner. We gave the ball away to easy and too many times to be considered a quality performance from us. We as a coaching staff expect these guys to play up to their potential at all times, and tonight was not one of those times. I hope they relax and have a good time with the homecoming football game and come out hungry for our game on Saturday vs. Fox Valley Lutheran. It’s time to kick it into gear and finish our regular seasons games firing on all cylinders. Come out and join us at 11:00 AM for JV and 1:00 PM for Varsity.
