The Gibraltar Vikings (3-3) fell 63-20 at home against the Wausau Newman Catholic Fighting Cardinals (6-0) Saturday afternoon. Jumping out to a 42-0 lead, the Cardinals stole the show right from the opening drive of the game.
Gibraltar’s defense could not keep up with the elusive running attack of Casey Kaliface who ran for over 100 yards and three touchdowns. Another week of poor tackling and the inability to slow down opposing rushers ultimately buried the Vikings hopes of an upset.
Quarterback Trevor Reinhardt threw just one touchdown on the afternoon thanks to Alex Laughlin’s ability to haul in a pass in tight quarters. Daniel Hallet rushed for a touchdown, his first of the year, and Adam Reinhardt caught one touchdown pass to extend his season total to seven.
