The Milwaukee Brewers shutout the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-0 on Monday. Brent Suter started on the bump for Milwaukee and pitched five innings of shutout baseball while striking out four. Corey Knebel came in to shut the door on Pittsburgh and earn his 36th save of the season.
Ryan Braun kicked off the scoring in the top of the fourth with a solo shot to give Milwaukee the lead for the first time in the game. Neil Walker and Travis Shaw each added RBI singles later in the game to seal the deal. The Brewers now sit three and a half games back in the division and two games back in the wildcard.
Milwaukee will now take on Pittsburgh in game two on Tuesday. First pitch being thrown out at 6:05. ‘The Crew’ is now just two games back of the Rockies for the final wild card spot and 3.5 games back of the Cubs in the NL Central.
