Gerald Lee Lokken, 75, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Sept. 14, 2017. He was born Sept. 3, 1942 in Madison to Glen and Lilian Lokke. On Aug. 13, 1966, he married Susan Morgan. She preceded him in death on Aug. 5, 2015.
His given name was Gerald Lee Lokken, but he was called by many names: son, brother, husband, dad, uncle, bud, crab cakes, Jer bear and friend. The name he was most often called in his life was “Coach”.
Jerry spent countless years of his life selfishly volunteering his time and knowledge to others. His impressive tenure spanned for most of his life including being an instructor with the Madison Drum and Bugle Corps, middle school basketball coach, high school basketball coach, high school softball coach, and Little League coach. He also coached 6 teams to the Badger State games and countless city league teams.
Jerry taught discipline, sportsmanship and most of all a passion for what you do. He passed these ideals on to hundreds of players and passed his unique understanding to the next generation. He will be dearly missed, but his teachings will always survive.
Rest now, your lessons have been learned and like you they will never be forgotten.
Survivors include 2 sons, Eric (Jamie) Lokken, Maryland; and Jeff (friend Stacy Reinhart) Lokken, Sturgeon Bay; 3 grandchildren, Elaina Lokken, Isabella Lesko and Terryle Lesko; 2 sisters, Gayle (Hank) Straw and Glenny Kirkeengs.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Oct. 28, 2017 at the Beach Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Online condolences may be offered at www.forbesfuneralhome.com
