The Luxemburg-Casco Spartan football team battled the West De Pere Phantoms for four quarters Friday night but fell to the Phantoms 35-21 in a non-conference game on WBDK. The Spartans struck early on a 78-yard touchdown strike from Garritt Aissen to Ian Doell on L-C’s first play from scrimmage with 10:43 left in the first quarter. West De Pere (4-0) responded by scoring two touchdowns to take a 14-7 lead into halftime.
Luxemburg-Casco (2-2) came back to tie the game twice in the second half on two other touchdown passes from Aissen to Doell (See video below). The game was tied until Austim Beaumier scored from one yard out to give the Phantoms a 28-21 lead with 6:49 left in the fourth quarter. The Spartans had a chance with tie late in the game but a fourth down pass from Aissen to Lance Tebon was just overthrown and the Phantoms put the game away with a Josh Blount run of 14 yards with just over a minute left in the game.
Aissen finished 17-31 for 232 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. Ian Doell had a monster night for the Spartans as well with 10 catches for 160 yards and three touchdowns.
The next Spartan football broadcast game will be next Friday as L-C will host Marinette on Senior Night in Luxemburg. Matt Piesler and Paul Schmitt will have the call starting at 6:30 p.m. with the pregame and kick off at 7 p.m. The game audio can also be streamed on DoorCountyDailyNews.com with video on facebook book live.
