It was the “Stevenson Show” Thursday as the Sturgeon Bay Clippers beat N.E.W. Lutheran 6-0 in varsity soccer. Coach Todd Maas was not satisfied with his teams effort Thursday however, “We got the result we were looking for, but the quality wasn’t always there. We left way to many great opportunities to but the ball in the back of the net on the pitch. We would have some really good passing and movement, build up was great, but the final piece we had a lack of concentration and execution. Our back third played well, still had a few miscues that we need to clean up. A couple we should have paid for. I thought their goal keeper played a great game, saving numerous shots. A few of them where well hit balls that he had great saves on.”
Jaden Stevenson scored two goals. Owen Stevenson, Carson Dvorak, DJ Riechel and Eli Dietzel all scored a goal apiece.
Maas added, “We will be up against the #1 ranked team in the state at this moment in D4, Prairie School, tonight at 7:00pm. And tomorrow at noon, we play Jainsville Craig a Division 1 school in the Milwaukee area. This will be a great test for our guys to see where we stand.”
Gibraltar/Sevastopol co-op soccer lost a heartbreaking game last night to Kewaunee by a score of 4-3. The lead went back and forth several times with both teams playing a very physical game. Scoring for Gibraltar were Jose Tlatempa, Evan Lardinois, and Kiegen Sargent. On September 14th Gibraltar/Sevastopol will host Sturgeon Bay at home.
Luxemburg-Casco lost to Marinette 3-1 in a Northeast Conference game. Adam Arendt scored the lone Spartan goal. Spartans goalie Cade Peppin made eight saves in the loss.
