The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Pittsburg Pirates 7-6 Wednesday afternoon in a barn burner. Jimmy Nelson started on the mound for Milwaukee and went six innings strong only giving up three earned runs on seven strikeouts. Corey Knebel came in to shut the door in the ninth earning his 24th save on the year.
Keon Broxton stayed hot at the plate as he blasted two bombs in the win over the Pirates. Travis Shaw added a solo shot himself in the sixth inning. The big hero of the night was Manny Piña launching a two-run homer in the eighth inning to put the Brewers up late in the game.
Milwaukee will now have a day off before they start a weekend series against the Colorado Rockies.
