The NFL pre-season is an enigma for fans, players and coaches. There are a number of really good things that can come out of the exhibition schedule. However, the list of negatives can really hurt a team. That may have happened to the Packers Thursday night in their 24-9 win over the Eagles.
Injuries sustained by Don Barclay (ankle). Damarious Randall (concussion), Malachi Dupre (chest) all looked serious. Dupre was stretchered off the field and was in the hospital last night going through a battery of tests. The rookie wide receiver out of LSU has shown flashes of brilliance during training camp.
Green Bay was led in pre-season game number one by third-year quarterback Brett Hundley. He led Green Bay to a 17-point second quarter including 20-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Janis that was followed by a Lambeau Leap from both quarterback and receiver.
Joe Callahan played most of the second half and finished with 103 passing yards and a 10/16 day at the office. DeAngelo Yancey was the teams leading receiver with six receptions for 67 yards. Max McCaffrey also tallied six catches for 60 yards.
Green Bay will be on the road for the next two exhibition games. They will play the Washington Redskins next on Saturday, August 19 at 6:30 PM.
