The Milwaukee Brewers used a three-run first inning and got excellent relief pitching to claim the first game of a three game series with the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 at Miller Park Tuesday night. Jimmy Nelson pitched six strong innings allowing only two runs to pick up his ninth victory of the season. Corey Knebel pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his 19th save of the season. The Brewers remain 2 1/2 games behind the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central.
