In an otherwise quiet trade deadline in Milwaukee, the Brewers traded for Texas Rangers reliever Jeremy Jeffress to shore up the back end of the bullpen. Going the other way in the deal was double-A reliever Taylor Scott. Jeffress was a throw-in piece in the Jonathan Lucroy deal to Texas, so this marks a homecoming of sorts for the former Brewers closer. Jeffress has been experiencing a down season in the AL, going 1-2 with a 5.31 ERA. Kirk Nieuwenhuis was designated for assignment to make room for Jeffress. He could make his debut tonight when the Brewers host the St. Louis Cardinals.
