On day four of the Kewaunee/Door Salmon Tournament, the first 30-plus pound fish was registered. Sevastopol 13-year-old Carter Bieri reeled in the fish of a lifetime with Danny Ewaskowitz, Missy Siebold and Cynthia Anshutz. The fishing quartet caught the trophy out of Baileys Harbor.
Missy Siebold said, “It was a very fun and exciting morning for the whole family.” The weight has to hold up for five more days and with fishing conditions on Lake Michigan less than ideal, it is a possibility the fish may end up on top of the leader board at the end of the week.
Ewaskowitz was captain of the older 16-foot Lund boat that landed the tournament leading fish. Ewaskowitz said, “(It was) a little crowded with four people, but (Carter) and my mom (Cynthia Anshutz) wanted to go! They reeled in the first couple fish, downrigger rod went off and I handed it to Missy. She passed it to Carter since it was his first time out all year! Took out over 700 feet of line, but he reeled him all the way in! Did a great job.”
