The Kewaunee County Lakers are one win away from a berth in the American Legion AA State Tournament. The regional hosts advanced to the championship games with a 2-0 win over Ashwaubenon Friday.
Meanwhile, the Ahnapee Trailblazers suffered a second loss and were eliminated from the tournament with a 4-3 loss to Pulaski in Friday’s first game. The Blazers led 3-2 going into the bottom of the 7th inning only to see Pulaski score twice to win the game. Pulaski then rallied to eliminate Ashwaubenon 4-3 in 8 innings in Friday’s nightcap.
Kewaunee County hosts Pulaski Saturday in the regional championship. Pulaski would need to beat the Lakers twice to eliminate Kewaunee County from the double elimination tournament. The only tournament winner opens play Wednesday at the state tournament in Merrill.
