The Kewaunee County Lakers took advantage of four Pulaski errors Thursday night to move into the winner’s bracket of the Region 4 American Legion AA baseball tournament being played in Luxemburg. The Lakers scored in each of the first four innings to jump out to a 5-0 lead against Pulaski. Pulaski got back in the game scoring four in the 5th. They loaded the bases in the 6th before winning pitcher Bryce TeKulve shut the door. Noah Lindsley got the save pitching a scoreless 7th inning for the 6-4 victory.
In the first game of the night, the Ahnapee Trailblazers rally fell short in a 6-5 loss to Ashwaubenon. Ashwaubenon scored four in the 2nd inning and held off a Trailblazers two-run rally in the last inning. Jaeger Brusky was 4-4 for Ahnapee, while Adam Gutschow was 2-4 with 2 RBIs and Anthony Moore was 2-3.
Ahnapee will play Pulaski at 3 p.m. Friday in an elimination game. Host Kewaunee County will face Ashwaubenon in the winner’s bracket game at 5:30. At 8 p.m., the winner of the 3 p.m. game meets the loser of the 5:30 game in the day’s second elimination game. The title games are set for Saturday in the double elimination tournament. The winner advances to the state tournament in Merrill next weekend.
