The Brewers returned from the All Star break with their tenth victory in the last twelve games, defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 9-6 at home last night. Eight runs in the second inning put Milwaukee ahead early; Orlando Arcia hit a three-run home run, and Ryan Braun added a grand slam to widen the lead. With the offense backing him up, starter Zach Davies improved his pitching record to 11-4 despite a season high of five walks and six strikeouts.
The eight-run blitz matched the Brewers’ season record for a single-inning offensive burst. The team will host the Phillies again tonight at 6 pm.
