It wasn’t the best fishing on the waters of Lake Michigan today but great times were had by all during the sixth annual 5th Quarter Foundation Fishing Tournament. Former Sturgeon Bay Clipper, Wisconsin Badger and ten-year NFL veteran Casey Rabach and his wife Nicole put on this great event every summer.
Names like Dave Robinson, Jerry Kramer, Jim Flanigan, Lynn Dickey, Marco Rivera, Paul Coffman, Frank Winters and dozens of others turn out for this great bass and salmon tournament. The majority of the boats (12) head out to Lake Michigan for salmon. The rest of the field (5) head towards the Bay of Green Bay to fish bass.
This year’s bass champions were Team Mercury with a cumulative weight of 17.58 pounds including the big fish of the tournament at 4.68 pounds. The salmon champions were B.O.B. There five salmon weigh in tipped the scale at 32 pounds. They beat out Werner Electric 2 by two-tenths of a pound. JJ Malvitz served as this year’s weigh master at the docks.
The annual celebrity dinner kicked off the event Tuesday night to the tune of approximately 350 people. Grand introductions, a celebrity panel and a live auction kept the night in high spirits.
