The Milwaukee Brewers beat the New York Yankees 5-3 on Sunday afternoon. Jimmy Nelson pitched for ‘The Crew’ and went five innings giving up three earned runs on the day. He also struck out six on the day. Four guys pitched out of the bullpen with Knebel getting his 14th save on the year. Corey Knebel had his bags packed ready for the all-star game after the win.
Travis Shaw led the way for the Brewers with the bats. He hit a 450 foot bomb in the first inning to put them up 3-0. Newly added Stephen Vogt hit his 4th homer of the season in the second to push the lead out to 4-0. ‘The Crew’ were able to hold on to the win from there.
The Brewers will now have the next four days off for the all-star break with their next game not coming until Friday. Except for Corey Knebel who will be the Brewers only participant in the all-star game Tuesday night.
