Sturgeon Bay Cal Ripken League Lions took the lead late in the game in a 9-7 victory over Red Room on Wednesday. The game was tied at four with Lions batting in the top of the fifth when Jack DeYoung doubled driving in two runs. The Lions earned the victory despite allowing Red Room to score four runs in the fourth inning.
The Lions took an early lead in the first inning. After the Lions scored two runs in the top of the sixth, Red Room answered with two of their own. Sturgeon Bay Cal Ripken League Lions scored when Red Room uncorked a wild pitch, scoring one run. Red Room then answered when there was an error, scoring one run.
Red Room knotted the game up at four in the bottom of the fourth inning. With two outs in the fourth inning they drove in two runs on a double.
Derrick Schingkton earned the win the Lions. He threw three innings, allowing zero runs, zero hits, striking out four, and walking zero.
The Lions had nine hits in the game. Jack DeYoung and Nick Peterson each collected multiple hits.
