The Sturgeon Bay Cal Ripken League Lions took the lead late and defeated Rotary 10-2 on Monday. The Lions secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to a double by Curt Meyer Jr,. a home run by Jack DeYoung, and a double by Nick Peterson.
The Lions took an early lead in the first inning. They scored two runs when Jaden Diller homered with two outs in the first inning. In the top of the third inning, Rotary tied things up at two. The Lions took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning.
Derrick Schinkgton earned the win for the Lions. He threw three innings, surrendering two runs, five hits, and striking out three. Three relievers helped the Lions close out the victory.
Home runs for the Lions came when Jack DeYoung homered in the fifth inning, Taylor Schaefer homered in the fourth inning, and Jaden Diller homered in the first inning.
The Lions had 16 hits in the game. Rotary collected six hits.
