The second day of extra innings for the San Diego Padres and the Milwaukee Brewers yielded different results for the visitor from the West Coast as they pushed two across in the 11th to win 7-5.
Home runs continued to be the theme of the series after Orlando Arcia’s inside-the-parker and Eric Thames team-leading 20th blast put the Brewers up 3-1 in the second inning after giving up a solo homer to the Padres’ Yangerve Solarte in the first. Solarte and Wil Myers would homer in the later innings before Keon Broxton drove in two runs with his own dinger to force an 11th inning. The Padres would hit two more home runs in the top of the 11th before closer Phil Maton closed out the game. In this series, the Padres’ Hunter Renfroe has the only RBI not driven in via the long ball with his 4th inning double.
The Brewers and the Padres wrap things up in Milwaukee with their rubber match this afternoon beginning at 1:10 p.m.
