The Milwaukee Brewers may be in the race for the National League Central longer than anyone thought. They have surpassed most expectations on the season already and now lead the division by two full games. A 7-6 win over the Cardinals Wednesday put ‘The Crew’ three and a half games in front of the ‘Red Birds’ in the Central. The Mets handed another loss to the Cubs yesterday, meaning Milwaukee leads the division by two full games.
Eric Thames got his groove back in the 7-6 win. He hit a home run and a double in his first two at bats Wednesday. Thames drove in three runs and scored two runs in the win. Lead off batter Eric Sogard also delivered two RBI with a 2×4 day at the plate. Matt Garza earned the win. His record is now (3-2) on the season with a 4.17 ERA.
The fourth and final game of the series in St. Louis will start today at 6:15 PM. Milwaukee holds a two games to one advantage heading into Thursday night’s finale.
