The Milwaukee Brewers dropped a heartbreaker to the Los Angeles Dodgers Friday night, 2-1 in 12 innings. The Crew broke open a pitchers’ duel in the 7th inning with a 2 out solo homer from Domingo Santana, chasing Dodgers’ starter Clayton Kershaw. LA tied the game on a homer by Yasmani Grandal off Brewers’ closer Corey Knebel in the top of the 9th to send it to the extra frames.
Cody Bellinger belted a solo homer to right in the 12th off former Milwaukee closer Neftali Feliz to provide the margin of victory. The Brewers set a National League record in the pitchers’ battle, striking out 26 times. Both teams combined to whiff 42 times.
The teams will play a 3:10 game Saturday at Miller Park. Matt Garza will get the ball for the Brewers, while the Dodgers will counter with lefty Rich Hill.
