Southern Door won a Division 3 regional title game 24-19 Wednesday when they beat Packerland Conference foe Kewaunee. You read that number right 24-19.
The Eagles took a 10-0 first inning lead. Kewaunee was on their third pitcher in the first inning. Coach Dave Neinas said his team took 17 walks. He admired their patience at the plate but said their fielding left much to be desired. Southern Door committed ten-plus errors, Neinas said.

The game took two and a half hours to complete. A grand slam by Lincoln Barta kept the Storm in it. Derik LeCaptain reached base six times including four hits and two walks. He did hit a two-run home run as well. Nick LeCaptain, Adam Gutschow, Zach Marchant and Cody Kissinger all had two hits in the win. Southern Door used four pitchers to claim the regional championship in one of the craziest high school baseball games the Packerland Conference has ever seen.
The Eagles will play a sectional semi-final next Tuesday at 9:30 AM at Markesan High School against Laconia.
