Patricia (Pat) Martin, 80, Algoma, died Thursday, May 25, 2017 as a result of an accident. She was born Sept. 21, 1936 in Goodman, WI to Eugene and Jayn (Roff) Nemetz. Their family moved to the Casco area and Pat graduated from Casco Union High School. She was very involved in school activities. After high school she attended the School of Nursing at Mount Sinai in Milwaukee. While living in Milwaukee she met and married Vaughan Martin on Sept. 22, 1956 in Kewaunee. They were still living in Milwaukee when they had their two daughters Melanie and Mary. In 1961 they moved to Algoma and built their house by the lake.
Pat was a bookkeeper for Algoma Lumber Company for a short time, then she worked for Baumann Plumbing and Heating before she started at the Algoma Clinic and then worked for Dr. Mark Wiesse which then became the Bellin Clinic. Pat retired in 2001.
Pat enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, working out in her garden, traveling and was an avid reader. She was always helping other people especially volunteering for Unity Hospice for the last three years, was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, was active in St. Paul’s Quilting Group and was involved with the Kewaunee Lodge affiliated with Western Fraternal Life Ins.
Pat was the glue that held the family together. Everyone came to Pat for advice and all the family activities going on.
Pat is survived by her two daughters Melanie (Nate) Tepp, Green Bay; Mary Martin, Green Bay; special “son” Russ Nell, three grandchildren Rachell (David) Austin, Green Bay; Becky (Mark) Olson, Mishicot and Ben Nell, Brooklyn, NY; five great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; siblings Barbara J. Nemetz, Green Bay; Eugene O. (Kay) Nemetz Jr, Algoma; and Helen Nemetz, Kewaunee; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vaughan, one brother John Nemetz and brother-in-law Gary Porter.
Family and friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 1 PM – 5 PM, with service to follow at5 PM with Rev. John Moll officiating. Burial the next day in the Arlington Cemetery, Milwaukee.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Unity Hospice or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
