Sevastopol needed only six innings to disband Saint Thomas Aquinas in their Division 4 regional tournament opener Thursday. Robby Pollman struck out six in five innings, including 13 first pitch strikes. Ethan Kroll had two hits and two RBI. Brent Haberli added two hits and Jacob Pflieger tallied two RBI in the win as well. Sevastopol Coach Jason Marggraf said, “We played the kind of ball we all knew this team is capable of playing. Robby pitched great, and we played rock solid defense behind him. Offensively, we put a lot of pressure on them and made things happen on the base paths.”
In Division 3, Southern Door and Kewaunee played in close ball games but each moved on. The second seeded Eagles struggled against #7 Roncalli. They held on for a 5-3 win. The Storm beat rival Algoma 7-6 in another great game.
