Jeanne Ruth Ploor, 76, of Sturgeon Bay, died Wednesday morning, May 24, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Kewaunee due to diabetes and kidney failure.
She was born on March 18, 1941, the daughter of Olaf and Hartha (Lenius) Nelson. Jeanne was a 1959 graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School. On September 25, 1959, she married Ronald Aloysius Ploor at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Institute. When they were first married Jeanne waitressed, and later in life, when she wasn’t taking care of her kids, she at Door County Rubber Stamp and Sherry’s Hallmark.
Jeanne was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Jeanne loved music and singing and had been a member of the Sweet Adelines and the Peninsula Chamber Singers as well. She also was a member of the Red Hatters and the Door County Hospital Auxiliary. Jeanne enjoyed getting together for lunch with her high school classmates known as the ‘59ers. She will be remembered by family and friends for having a great sense of humor.
Jeanne will be dearly missed by her husband, Ronald; two sons and one daughter, Timothy Ploor of Sturgeon Bay, Terri (Jeffery) Gingold of Milwaukee, and Todd (Kim) Ploor of Sturgeon Bay; four granddaughters, Ivy Ploor of Green Bay, Lauren and Meredith Gingold of Milwaukee, and Rowan Ploor of Sturgeon Bay; step-grandson, Ian Baartz; brother, Donald (Phyllis) Nelson of Accokeek, MD; and two brothers-in-law, Dan Ploor of Sturgeon Bay and David (Yolanda) Ploor of Albuquerque, NM.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hartha and Olaf Nelson; two brothers and two sister-in-laws, Howard (Betty) Nelson and Vernon (Jane) Nelson; Ron’s parent’s, Emily and Aloysius “Bud” Ploor; and sister-in-law, Helen Ploor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay with Fr. Robert Stegmann and Fr. Robert Karuhn concelebrating. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church, Tuesday morning, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
