It took over five hours for the game to be decided, but the Milwaukee Brewers ultimately beat the Chicago Cubs in the series opener at Wrigley Field 6-3.
Jett Bandy opened the scoring in the first inning with a two-run single to drive in Eric Sogard and Eric Thames. The Cubs would take a brief lead in the third inning after catcher Wilson Contreas drove in two of his own, but the Brewers recaptured it before a two hour rain delay hit Wrigley Field following an Orlando Arcia single and a bases-loaded walk to Jesus Aguilar. Domingo Santana would take the drama out of it when play resumed after he knocked in two more runs on a single. The Brewers forced 10 walks and three errors in the game.
