Sturgeon Bay girls soccer lost to New Holstein 3-1 Thursday afternoon. The Huskies scored in the 44th minute (Kayla Gruelig) to lead 1-0 at Half. Julia Danes made it 2-0 before Sturgeon Bay’s Charlie Pollock made it 2-1. A late score New Holstein’s Hannah Krupp finished the scoring 3-1.
Clippers Coach Bob Desotelle said, “We played a talented team and kept this one close. Although we had several 1v1’s on their keeper, we came up short on the score. Charlie Pollocks score was a beautiful back post drive the keeper never had a play on. All three of NH’s scores were quality shots. They have a potent offense. While our defense played well, NH needed only small miscues to score. Sophomore Ella Pinkert got her first start of the year and had an outstanding game as a mid fielder and classmate Caitlyn Smith provided some quality minutes too. We next play Sevastopol/Gilbraltar at home Monday at 4:30.”
