Sturgeon Bay took a giant step towards claiming at least a share of the Packerland Conference Baseball title Monday. A 2-1 win over front-running Oconto included an incredible game from Jeffrey Alberts. The senior tossed seven innings for the Clippers. He threw 15 first pitch strikes and struck out three in the victory. Alberts also knocked in an RBI. Ryan Jacobson had the other RBI for Sturgeon Bay.
Gibraltar and Kewaunee locked up in the most exciting game in the Packerland Conference Monday. The Vikings held off the Storm 11-10 thanks in part to Joe Burlo’s four runs scored. Jared Reinhardt touched home plate three times in the win. He also singled, doubled, walked and knocked in one RBI. Brandon Emery-Janzen was the winning pitcher. Trevor Reinhardt earned the save.
Algoma shutout Sevastopol 2-0 Monday. Casey Stangel struck out eight in complete game shutout. He opposed Robby Pollman who also pitched extremely well. Pollman struck out seven in six innings. Jaden Sawyer had three hits to lead Algoma.
