The race for the Packerland Conference title has been an extremely close one all season. After Thursday night’s 5-1 win for Gibraltar over Sturgeon Bay, things got even more interesting. When the week started, the Clippers held a one-game lead over Southern Door and Gibraltar. That lead is gone. All three schools have two losses on the season and Oconto is just a game back.
The Vikings got a great outing out of Ernie Erickson on the hill. The Viking pitched a complete game and allowed just one run while striking out five. Connor Brennan had two hits and an RBI in the win. Trevor Reinhardt and Ben Johnson also knocked in runs. Jeffrey Alberts lasted five and two-thirds innings and struck out five in the loss.
Southern Door eased past Sevastopol 12-4. Kody Kissinger pitched five solid innings and struck out seven for the Eagles. Derik LeCaptain had three hits, Tyler Kroll added two and Adam Gutschow tallied three RBI in the win. Lucas Stenzel had two hits and two RBI to lead Sevastopol. Brent Haberli also accounted for an RBI for the Pioneers.
