Anthony Moore tallied two hits and an RBI. Jake Moeller added two RBI in the win. The Clippers plated five innings in the first inning and controlled the entire game.
Sevastopol Coach Jason Marggraf said, “We couldn’t get out of our own way in the first, and we struggled trying to claw our way out of the hole. Lucas cruised after the first, but we couldn’t get anything going for him. Alberts really had our number. He had our guys on their heels and guessing at pitches. He threw very well.”
Algoma hosted Oconto in a double-header of sorts Monday. The first game was the continuation of a suspended game from April 13 tied 2-2 after 8 innings. Trevor Haasch led off and reached on an error followed by Casey Nelson’s bunt single. Haasch scored on Booker Prokash’s ground out and Nelson scored on a wild pitch. Casey Stangel held Oconto scoreless in the bottom of the 9th to earn the win while Bennett Frazer took the loss.
In game two, Jake Krueger’s single in the top of the 7th scored Bennett Frazer to break a 2-2 tie. Baylon Welch earned the win in relief while Dillon Dean took the loss for the Wolves. (Thank you to Erik Nelson for the results.)
